Lieutenant-General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed HI(M), is Pakistani army general who command's the II Corps of the Pakistan Army.He previously served as Chief of General Staff and Director-General Military Operations. Ahmed also leads the mechanised corps

Early Life

Lt Gen. Ishfaq Nadeem hails from village Nila, district Chakwal. He was born in the family of highly respected Ahmed Khan Qureshi, who was on the engineering side of Radio Pakistan until his retirement.
His two brothers are Dr. Irfan Salim Ahmed Executive Director at the Centre of Nanotechnology in the University of IllinoisChampaign–Urbana , United States and Imran Naeem Ahmed a journalist.

Education

He passed matriculation along with two brothers from St Mary's Cambridge School in Rawalpindi. Ishfaq was JCB-I and belonged to 62-Long Course of Pakistan Military Academy. He has completed course from Staff College, Camberley and is an outstanding officer with exceptional grades.

Military Career

Ahmed served as Chief of Staff of I Corps as brigadier. During Ahmed's tenure as a major general, he led Swat operation as General Officer Commander.
Pakistan Today noted that "Ahmed is the one who, in the corps commanders meeting held in September 2014, had raised a voice against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Azadi march and advised the military leadership to stay away from it."
Reportedly, Ahmed is a potential candidate for 16th Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.
